Passion Week: "it is finished"

Day Seven

Every thing is quiet behind the stone in front of the tomb, Jesus must be confined securely, death is assured ! ! !

Lots of stuff died on the cross, “Faith”, “hope”, “son” and “savior”   like Jesus said, “it's over!”

The Passion: Day Six

Day six
         * looking beyond * the “CROSS”

Remember Jesus has been in custody now for all night, 1 trial before Caiaphas, Jesus is held over for trial. The whole Sanhedrin is gathered before sun up for a second trail, so the full Sanhedrin declares Jesus of Nazareth a Blasphemer! (Matt.26:65)
Peter denies “he knows Jesus”!
A third trial at sun-up Jesus is declared guilty of Blasphemy worthy of death.
Jesus sent to Pilate a “forth” trial. Pilate sends him to king Herod “a fifth” trial.
Trial SIX back before Pilate and the crowd that cried aloud “crucify him!”

YOU KNOW THE REST
wounded – execution Crucifixion
Seeing; Stations of the Cross

God our God , how magnificent is Thy Name in all the earth.
We can not feel how you felt, Oh, God how great may be your grief. Lord and Savior the pain in Your mortal body, none other could have borne! By who's stripe we are healed!
Praise ye the Lord, Praise God for His power. Praise Him for His mighty acts: praise Him according to His excellent greatness. Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. (Psalm 150) paraphrased

Passion week: day Five

Day Five Thur
Staring down the Old Rugged Cross.

The Plot thickens - Passover is ready

Like Jesus we shouldn't get distracted with time lines or days for feasts but keep our eyes on the “Cross.” What is important here is God's Plan!
It included the betrayal, the institution of Christ Communion, the Cross and the coming Resurrection!
This is also the time Jesus washed the disciples feet, the prayer of agony in Gethsemane and His ultimate arrest.

You God, we glorify; Have mercy on us, according to your unfailing love.
Strengthen our hands and our wills for love and for service. Keep before our eyes the image of your son, who, being God, became a servant for our sake.
All glory be to him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.

Preparing for the Cross

day four

All Israel prepares a paschal lamb or a kid of a year old, Exo. 12:5 says it must be “an unblemished Male” on the tenth day of the month until the 14th day. Our pastor just preached on this, Jewish tradition says they would bring the lamb into their homes, clean it up, keep it till the day of the “Sacrifice.” It was special to them, it was the best they had!

Not much is said in the New Testament about Jesus and the disciples activities on this day. But we do know that in this silence in scripture, Gods plan was still in action!

Judas was selling out Jesus, The holier than thou church members were still plotting against Jesus. The disciples were still pondering the Parables of Jesus and still understanding with carnal minds.

Have you thought, not seeing any action, was God still in control?
Prayer:
God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, prepare our heart as all Israel prepares for the “Feast of Passover” You, Lord, are always faithful. We stumble. We become lost. But you are steady and sure. Give us the grace to endure our troubles, and reveal to us the glory of your kingdom.
Through your son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Looking toward Via Dolorosa

Tuesday – day three

Looking toward Via Dolorosa

Departing Bethany again on the 3 day they pass by the orchard on the way to the temple; And Peter remembered and said to him, "Rabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered." (Mark 11:21) Jesus used the teachable moment to encourage the disciples faith. While at the temple the scribes and elders challenge Jesus' authority. Leaving the temple Jesus taught with many “parables” as they returned again to Bethany.
The betrayal begins: Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went off to the chief priests in order to betray Him to them.(Mark 14)

Prayer:
“O Lord of hosts, God who is enthroned above, You have made heaven and earth. You are God of all the kingdoms of the earth. Incline Your ear, O Lord, and hear our prayer;
Help us endure if others betray us like Iscariot. Open our ears to Lord Jesus Parables, our hearts to accept His precepts. Alas Lord God! Empower us “to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God” [Romans 12] — Amen.

Jesus' Passion week

Posted on March 27, 2018 at 12:28 AM Comments comments (25)
Monday, 26
Day two
Jesus is moved as looks upon the “City of God,” the “City of David,” Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. It is this day that Jesus cursed the barren fig tree! Now in Jerusalem, Jesus comes to the Temple, the sight of the “money changers” stirs righteous indignation and turns over all the merchants booths!

Matthew 23:37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.

Your mercy is unfailing our King and Lord! Forgive us if we have become merchants of Your Grace, through merchandise on the tables of our hearts.
Oh, God, quicken us that we not become fruitless branches of your trunk, may your compassion not whither.

Restore our joy in Your Salvation and grant us a willing spirit to proclaim your Gospel of salvation in Your Blood and Grace. Amen.

Yours in the Life of Jesus, His Death, Burial and Resurrection,

Passion week Devotion

Palm Sunday
Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King
St. John 12;12 The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. 13. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna! ” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”“Blessed is the king of Israel!”

Most high and prayer hearing God
As we walk in Your garden as did Adam and Eve we talk with Thee our God and Creator.
Let us be ever mindful of the Love and Suffering of Your Son and the Savior of all people of Creation.
Form in us a remorseful heart and joyous Spirit, mourning and praising Hosanna to Christ The Lord.
Merciful and Loving Creator and Savior we trust in Your Resurrection. Amen.
(choosing words of others beautiful prayers)

an intense week

What an intense week !
Have you ever read or walked the Stations of the Cross? Although mostly observed by Catholic and Orthodox believer's yet it can be a very moving experience for Protestant's like myself during this week of Passover and Passion of Christ culminating with the Resurrection Sunday observance
Our Christian Salvation is like no other Faith.

The Disciples could not be dissuaded, just try to imagine the words of Jesus echoing in your head as you looked into the empty tomb. Is there anything in your life that no matter what, what family, friends or any one, you will never change. If you talked with a supposed dead person, walked with, sat with, eat with and in Thomas' case touched the same Jesus that he had touched before the Cross.

The only thing that I can compare in our lives today would be an auto accident that you were in, you will remember the day, the hour and moments every horrifying second, every noise, every smell and the sight! God forbid a rape or a murder right in front of your eyes.
I also have had an incident that I can relive in a split second; Nov. 4, 1966 and more, I mention this only to impress on the reader that even after 50 plus years this is so real in my life, I can describe my every emotion, every sound, every smell and nothing, nothing you or any one else can say or do nothing to dissuade me of any single thing of that day.
(Many objections to the gospels is the supposed late dates of the records of the "Four Gospels" but their memories were most likely very vivid.)

It must have been that way with Peter, James, John, Matthew, Mark, Thomas, Jude, James the brother of John, Nathaniel, Simon the Zealot, Phillip and Judas Iscariot. Not to mention Saul called Paul the apostle or Mary the Mother of Jesus, Martha and her sister Mary and Mary of Magdala.
What is there in your life that you would just say; "no, I'll die first." "just shoot me now"

Yours in Faith,
            du Padre
